International Registration List of
Cultivated Buxus L.
September 2021
by Lynn R. Batdorf
This enumeration follows the provisions of the International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP), Ninth Edition, published in June 2016 by the International Society of Horticultural Science (ISHS), Leuven, Belgium. ISSN 1813-9205; ISBN 978-94-6261-116-0; Scripta Horticulturae Number 18. It incorporates the Rules and Recommendations for naming plants in cultivation. It is adopted by the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS), International Commission for the Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants (ICNCP), Brussels, Belgium.
Registered and accepted cultivar epithets, which have been properly established, appear in ‘boldface type’. Cultivar epithets lacking nomenclatural status or recognized as synonyms appear in ‘lightface type’. Indeterminate names and epithets contrary to the Code are rejected as not established and appear in (parentheses). Synonyms are provided when appropriate. Botanical taxa appear in bold italic type. For each cultivar epithet, the earliest known correct citation is provided.
This “Checklist” examined virtually every reference cited for each cultivar epithet. Additionally, hundreds of historical and contemporary botanical and nursery resources were utilized. Then, with additions and reclassifications, it incorporated:

While assisted by generous and informed individuals, the Registrar takes full responsibility for both the accuracy and interpretation of the information presented. The Registrar invites corrections and additions with citation or registration information.
